A Bit About Belle!
Everyone meet SAMD Belles and Bows (a.k.a. "Belle")! She is the first jennet foal, for both her sire and her dam, HHAA Smitten's Tennessee Mojo and HHAA Dream of Genie! We were so very excited to welcome this stunning jennet foal.
The very first thing we noticed was her very long whiskers. Dream of Genie, her dam, is a wooly jennet... with an 8" long mane and forelock. In foals, very long whiskers are a sign of being a wooly. Belle definitely inherited her dam's wooly genetics.
After closely observing her, she has a very nice set of front and back legs, her gums are currently aligned great, she has a gorgeous head, and we are confident to say that her spots are going to be black... especially with her having several black and black/white donkeys in her background.
Her sire, Mojo, has only ever won reserve hi-point, at NMDA Shows where we have competed for hi-point. He is an extremely well rounded jack- he jumps, pulls carts, excels in trail courses, and much more. His siblings have also made great names for themselves, in the show ring, especially in the halter classes. Mojo will also become more of a figure in the equine world in the future... however, we cannot disclose that information, until later on.
Belle's dam, Dream of Genie, has to be one of our top jennets. She has never been shown; however, she is big boned, wide, has very nice legs, a beautiful head, and is overall built they way that a Miniature Mediterranean Donkey should be built. She is one of only three offspring, by her dam, with one of her siblings living in Australia. Her sire, HHAA Black 'n' Blue, has also been residing in Australia, for several years. This makes it even harder to be able to produce a donkey with her genetics, in the United States.
Although she was just born, I am very confident in Belle. If we were able, Belle would not be leaving our farm. Sadly, you cannot keep them all! So, someone is going to be getting a FANTASTIC jennet!!
If you are interested in Belle, make sure to reach out and let us know. This little girl will be an amazing opportunity.
We do require that our donkeys go to a home that provides another donkey as a companion... preferably same sex.
All of our foals prices included gelding (if they are a jack (unless discussed otherwise in depth)), vaccinations, boosters, rabies, negative coggins, several foal de-worming's, several hoof trims, health certificates (if they are leaving TN), etc. We give copies of and handle transferring MDR or ADR papers, and ACOSA papers (if they are spotted) into new owner's name. We also handle our foals A LOT. We pick up their hooves, starting at a day old... teach them to lead, stand tied, do some fun obstacle training, trailer loading, etc. Whether our donkeys go to show homes, therapy programs, pet homes, etc... we find all of this to be very important, to build a strong foundation, for them to be confident in their new homes.
